Jess looked exquisitely beautiful in the Chinese traditional red 'kua-qun' and I sometime wonder, do we know the history of this 'kua-qun'? In the olden days, wedding dresses are usually red, the traditional colour of good luck and auspiciousness. The 'kua-qun' actually has many varieties of patterns. The dragon and phoenix are symbols of auspiciousness, the peony is a symbol of prosperity, the pomegranate symbolises many offspring and mandarin ducks are a symbol of marital love. One can also find goldfish, roses, the blessing rat, the lotus and words of happiness. The name of a kua depends on the designs on the front panel of the gown. If a goldfish design is on the front panel, it will be known as a goldfish kua

Sean + Jess's Actual Day Wedding - 11th & 12th January 2014
Actual Day Wedding Photographer, Puchong, Selangor, Malaysia
Jess looked exquisitely beautiful in the Chinese traditional red 'kua-qun' and I sometime wonder, do we know the history of this 'kua-qun'? In the olden days, wedding dresses are usually red, the traditional colour of good luck and auspiciousness. The 'kua-qun' actually has many varieties of patterns. If a goldfish design is on the front panel, it will be known as a goldfish kua
So if you are planning your wedding now, do consider to wear a 'kua' as it really brings a tradition feel in your wedding pics and besides, you only wear it once in a lifetime :)
